Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to count oral care products mothers used, identify the factors for the number of oral care products adolescents used, and suggest the need for adolescents to use oral care products.

Methods: The raw data from the 2017 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey VII-2 were used to match IDs of adolescents aged 13-18 with those of their mothers, and 254 matched respondents were finally analyzed.

Results: As for the factors affecting the number of oral care products adolescents used, the more educated the mother was (¥â=0.168) and the larger number of oral care products she used (¥â=0.184), the larger number of oral care products the adolescent used.

Conclusion: It has been confirmed that the number of oral care products the mother uses affects the number of oral care products the adolescent uses and inter-group correlation was found in terms of oral care behavior; therefore, adolescents' oral health care is expected to be significantly affected by the oral care products their mothers use for oral health care.
